Description

Blue Margarita is an eye-catching variation of the classical Margarita. The blue color is added directly with food coloring or indirectly with blue Curaçao. It's a strong tequila cocktail, you always have to keep in mind that one or two glasses are enough if you don't want to end up fully wasted.

Tequila is refined with Curaçao, lemon juice and a bit of sugar syrup. Because of the acidity, the tequila flavor is hardly notable. However, this refreshing party cocktail doesn't taste exorbitant sour, it's well balanced.

Blue Margarita you can serve for many occasions. Because of its impressive color it's ideal for parties and people with special appreciation of prettiness.

1.

Sugar or salt rim

Blue MargaritaPreparation: Sugar or salt rim

A crusta looks really great and complements Blue Margarita perfectly. With a sugar or salt rim it's best practice to start preparing the glasses before you actually begin mixing the drink.

2.

Lemon or lime decoration

Blue MargaritaPreparation: Lemon or lime decoration

We recommend a lemon or lime wedge for decoration. So, cut off a slice of lemon, make a vertical cut in the middle and place it on the glass rim.

Do you like sugar rims?

Yes (42%)

No (58%)

Our survey shows that there are some people out there preferring a salt rim and for most of those a sugar rim is not a problem. On the other hand, most of those favoring a sugar crusta don´t like Blue Margarita with a salt rim. Either way, try it out or play safe and serve it with a sugar rim.

It's an American habit to make the crusta only on one half of the rim. Like that you could prepare one half with sugar and the other with salt. Usually with this technique, you leave one half empty that it's possible to drink it without crusta.

In our opinion an entire custa looks better, tastes better and sticks better to the glass. A straw can help for those with an aversion against crustas.

Decoration / Serving

Blue margarita in a white wine glass and red wine glass

Indeed wine glasses look great, but the glass rim is a bit too short for a long lasting crusta.

Margarita, a Martini or cocktail glass are most appropiate for Blue Margarita. Present it with crusta and a slice of lemon.

A good presentation and an adequate environment are as important as the taste of cocktails. Use our decoration tool to test different decorations and glasses.
